TRAINING
February - April 2012

ARIA Technologies regularly organizes different theoretical and practical training courses on dispersion modeling of atmospheric pollution and the use of different software developed by the company.

2012 Training programme (in french).

Registration form (in french).

We also organize more general training courses in the domain of air quality and the modeling of atmospheric pollution. These “General courses” are intended for persons wishing to deepen their knowledge in the domain of air pollution: the atmospheric dispersion, the pollutants, the regulations and the basics in air pollution modeling as well as different approaches and applications.

POLLUTEC HORIZONS 2011
Nov 29th - Dec 2nd 2011

ARIA Technologies will be present at POLLUTEC HORIZONS 2011 exhibition that will be held in Paris-Nord Villepinte, FRANCE from November 29th to December 2nd.

We are pleased to invite you to our stand (Hall 6, Allée H, Stand 211) in order to present our services in the field of atmospheric environment and to discuss your needs in connection with: impact of industrial or traffic emissions, evaluation of health risks, emission inventories, risk assessment, regional air quality modeling and forecasting. We will also be at your disposal for a demonstration of our software.

Moreover, we would like to welcome you to our exhibitor conference planned on Wednesday November 30, on the theme of: "The ARIA City software package: studying atmospheric dispersion in 3D under ArcGIS (developed for the city of Paris)". See below.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to make an appointment or receive a free invitation to the exhibition.

Conference POLLUTEC 2011
November 30 2011

This conference, will be held on Wednesday November 30 from 09h30 to 10h15 am at the POLLUTEC exhibition (Forum Qualité de l’Air / Hall : 10 / Allée : N / Stand : 34).

The ARIA City software package: studying atmospheric dispersion in 3D under ArcGIS (developed for the city of Paris)

Jacques MOUSSAFIR, Richard NGO | ARIA Technologies SA

Summary : Those in charge of the environment in big cities have to resolve particularly complex atmospheric dispersal problems, because of the diversity of the urban landscape and traffic emissions. Development studies, creation or modification of major roads with high density traffic; from tunnel exits, ventilation systems outlets (parking, underground railways…), to limitation of the traffic on existing roads. These are some examples of the problems they frequently have to face. To solve these problems, they turn to 3D digital representation of the urban environment (public road, topography, 3D buildings), so as to allow a realistic consideration of the confinement effects due to different obstacles. To reach this objective, all the urban data are generally gathered by the city in a Geographical Information System (GIS). One of the most widespread is the ESRI ArcGis Desktop product, especially in big cities.

The ARIA City software has been implemented for the City of Paris Urban Ecology Department. This professional software strictly follows the standards of data storage and the graphic tools proposed by ArcGIS, establishing a direct and simplified link to the air emissions impact model. ARIA City actually coordinates the selection and the choice of:

  • Geographical site data: topography, land-use, buildings, location of the meteorological station;

  • Basic elements related to the project: study domain, choice of development or intervention, traffic flow considering all types of vehicle (passenger cars, light duty vehicles, two wheelers, heavy duty vehicles), other emissions sources (industrial or domestics);

  • Calculation of traffic emissions using the vehicles flow and the fleet data: use of the TREFIC model;

  • The calculation model to use: gaussian model (ARIA Impact), lagrangian particles model (MSS), complete computational fluid dynamics (Code_SATURNE);

  • Expected results and maps: annual mean, regulatory percentile, simulation of a daytime period, scenario comparison, worst cases studies (2F meteorological situation,…).

The results are then managed using either an advanced 3D visualization software (EWB, PARAVIEW), Google Earth, or the familiar environment of the ArcGIS system, where they are archived at the same time as the inputs and preparation elements of the project being studied. ARIA City appears consequently as a "board of urban atmospheric dispersion studies", totally integrated into the ArcGIS working environment.
