ARIA Impact

ARIA Impact is a user-friendly software explicitly designed for evaluating the long-term impact of emissions (gas and particulate) from industrial sites, vehicular traffic and diffuse sources. The system is designed for decision-making purposes providing results that can be compared with regulatory norms of air quality as well as being used for complete evaluation of health risks or odour evaluations.

Aria Impact is a second generation local scale gaussian model that takes into account industrial plume rise, deposition, topography, calm wind situations, NO/NO2 conversion and canyon effects in urban conditions.

Impact of industrial & traffic emissions on air quality

  • Statistical assessment of long-term impact of industrial and traffic emissions on air quality

  • Comparison of concentration levels with regulatory norms (annual averages, percentiles)

  • Statistical analysis of meteorological data (time series, wind roses)

Comprehensive user interface

  • Allows import of meteorological, topographical and emission data (constants, with time variations, from an Excel file), without any limitation in number of substances or sources,
  • Allows statistical processing of meteorological data (time series, wind roses),

  • Allows simultaneous processing of all types of substances: gaseous, particulate, odour, radioactive pollutants,

  • Offers a vehicular traffic module: conversion of NOX to NO/NO2, possibility of combining it with the module for calculating emissions from vehicles (TREFIC),

  • Takes into account simplified topography, blocks the mixing layer, specific module for calm winds, module for rising of dust particles, takes into account the background pollution,

  • Provides an extensive range of results: concentration map, deposition (annual average, centiles), upper threshold frequency, values calculated at receptors,

  • Is compatible with other GIS (ArcGIS, MapInfo...), graphical output in native Google Earth format,

  • Provides a validation file.

Data Input

Spatial Scale: From 5*5 km to 30*30 km.

Meteorological data input: Wind roses or series of 1- or 3-hourly data from a meteorological station or during a particular meteorological situation.

Emission data input: Pollutant description (gas and particles). Emissions and characteristics of point (industries), linear (traffic), area or volume (domestic heating, diffused VOC emission, etc.) sources. Monthly, weekly, and hourly modulations for each source.Vertical meteorological profiles computed from ground measurement time series.
